Vox Banners, 1964-1967

The two banners below turned up in Reading earlier this year (2020). They had been for some years in an electrical repair shop. The owner had been a radio repairman.

The banner with "VOX" in red cursive script is from 1964, its background having faded from purple to its present pink. The black and gold banner is from c. 1965. This new style was standard until early 1968.

Banners such as these were issued by JMI to dealers and shops. That was in effect their principal purpose. But they were also displayed at Trade Fairs, promotional events, and so on (pictures further below).

The pink (purple) and red banner seems to have served as the model for the banners made and displayed in the USA. But the American versions were slightly different. They are wider, and the "Authorised" of the English examples is given as "Authorized".

Further surviving examples of US banners and contemporary photos will be added soon - perhaps to form a second page. The style of banner pictured above in 1965 carried through to around 1967. Thereafter Thomas Organ issued a new design, accompanied by light boxes and literature for dealer displays.
